Ofsted inspect schools to provide information to parents and carers.

Ofsted inspections are required by law; providing an independent assessment of the quality and standards of education in schools, whilst checking whether pupils are achieving as much as they can. The inspection usually lasts for two days and the number of inspectors on the inspection team will vary according to the size and nature of the school.

Faith schools will also receive a second “Denomination Inspection” known as Section 48. These inspections are undertaken by Diocesan Inspectors and in a Catholic school they will assess the the quality of Catholic Life, Collective Worship and Religious Education within a school.
